NEW SAHM

Hi Everyone!

I just had a new baby in July and also have a yo son. I am staying home for the first time and am feeling a little gun shy. I put the first one in daycare at 12 weeks. Any tips?

hi stacy, how are you? i am not sure exactly what you are asking here. you are there mom,and of course its up to you to decide the best ways to care for them. if you are somewhat overwelmed with two, theres nothing wrong with daycare to help you out. if you are asking for activities to do with your one year old, well, thats really up to you as well. my son is four and a half, and i dont really recall what i did to entertain him back then. i guess, there always reading books, playing games like hide and seek, etc. i dont really recommend much tv, (not healthy.) i hope i answered your question, if not, i apologize. i am sure you are a wonderful mother, whatever you decide. GOD bless!, and have a great day!

I think my orginal post was not clear.  I am not having trouble caring for them but am interested in finding activities that will engage the 4 yo but won't require excluding the baby.

Well, my suggestion is this. There's really not alot of activities that you can include both of them in. You can do things like swimming, walking, playing, even something as small as reading, counting, and the same with the 4 yr old while changing the baby or bathing the baby include your son. Really because of the age difference it is very difficult. I too have the same situation a 1 yr old and a 4 yr old. There's not alot that they can do together right now, but what we can do are those things above. Oh, one last thing, if you're at the park you can swing the baby on your lap and swing next to your older child. I hope this helps. It all boils down to creativity. Let me know how it works out.

Try story time at your local library or book store :)
