Car Seats-Any recommendations?
Hello everyone,
Just wanted to ask about a car seat for toddlers. I wanted to know if anyone had a good one that they recommend, like one that is easy to install and has a good safety rating. Thanks for your help.

Britax!!! I switched to one when I compared mine to a friends Britax---was shocked at the amount of thought that went into a Britax. Also has very good crash test ratings. What ever you do check with your local fire department and have a certified car seat inspector check your installation. There are some national websites that you can look up and put in your zip code and they can connect you with an inspector. Also my daughter loves her Britax sooooo comfy she says. Britax car seats also last longer because the weight limits are higher. Check out Tinyride.com if you want one---no tax and free shipping!!!!!!!

go to amazon.com and look at the car seats and read the consumer comments. Consumer Reports rated an Evenflo (Titan 5) as a "best buy". Doesn't mean it is the best - just best ratings for the price (around $99 if you can find one). Keep in mind how long your child has to be in it and if you want to keep it that long or switch to a booster seat eventually and how much your child weighs already. I got the convertible that only goes to 40 lbs and my almost 2 year old is already 33 lbs so we'll be switching to something else before he's out of a seat!

Please be careful of evenflo products, I have noticed so many recalls on thier products. Also I have had nothing but problems with some of thier items. From the breastpump only working once to the megasaucer not being sturdy and falling apart.

My infant carseat was evenflo and it was recalled after I stopped using it. That scared me a lot. The one I use now is Eddie Bauer convertible car seat. It is rear facing, forward facing and booster seat. I checked it out and it was rated very well for safety in crash tests, as well as low levels of chemicals. It was inexpensive, too. Though I don't recommend bargain shopping for carseats, more expensive doesn't necessarily mean better.

Britax Boulevard is great - a little pricey but it's maximum weight is 65 pounds - so it will last you awhile. Very good safety record with Consumers Report.
