My son is 11, he was diagnosed with autism at the age of 2. He is now at the HF Austism level, but not Asperger, because he stims and flaps his hands. He just stopped walking o his tip toes last month.
We have homeschooled him since he was 5, he was regressing in the classroom. We decided to pull him out to see how he did at home, he did and has been doing very well since.
He started having talking when he was 5 1/2 and hasn't stopped since. :) We tease him that he is making up for all the time he did not speak to us.
He has a great sense of humor, loves to tease people. He loves maps, we don't need a GPS we have him, but don't make him mad at you when you are relying on him for directions, he will purposely give you the wrong directions. :)
He loves Wikopedia, trains, enviroment, earth science, and the weather channel. He is a very high level reader. Loves non-fiction, hates fiction books. Hates math, but he is good at it. He has his own way of figuring out math problems. Not the typical way.
Lots of energy!
Our biggest struggle is his behavior. We struggle with aggression. Not towards anyone else other than his family. He wants things his way, he wants a schedule, but then fights it. He does complain, he says he has a right to do things his way because the constitution states he can. Has a right to talk the way he wants because of the first amendment. :)
He also does not go to sleep very well at night, which probably has a lot to do with behavior issues.
Tries and wants to play with other children, I tried helping him, but he says I embarress him and wants to learn on his own, but struggles. He despises large groups of people.
A great kid, fun to be around!
