I need help with tummy time

I'm having a hard time getting my 3 1/2 month old to do tummy time. She will only do it with a boppy pillow but for only a short period of time. I 've tried everything to help make her comfortable and have a fun time but she still hates it. What can I do to help her to like tummy time and learn how to crawl??? I feel like she's behind in this....

Hi Karolina! First off let me say just be patient...eventually she'll get comfortable. Every child does things differently and at different times. My oldest hated being on his belly in the beginning, but eventually he did enjoy it and he figured out how to crawl. My youngest, however, loved being on his belly constantly! :). Once she learns to crawl...all bets are off and you'll long for the days when you put her down and that's where she stayed longer than a few seconds, lol. Good Luck Dana

Thank you so much for the info...I will continue to be patient and work with her every day!!

my son hated tummy time for the longest time, he is just now enjoying it and he is 7 months...each little guy or gal is different...he is catching up with his milestones, rolling scooting, and slithering all over it took a while but it just wasnt his time yet, i would just be patient she'll grasp it eventually

Don't worry. My 4 1/2 month old just started enjoying tummy time. Just a week ago she learned to roll all by herself so she rolls back and forth all day long. lol

Yup it takes time as the others have said. Also what worked for me was putting my little one on his tummy almost to the edge of the couch then I got on the floor under him and made funny faces and sound and jiggled fun toys. this made him like it a lot more then staring at the floor. But if you are getting a few min. a day I say you are doing a great job. They only can handle new things for short periods of time anyway, sounds like he's right on track to me Laughing
