reactive attachment disorder in an 18 month old

Hi my name is Erin and i have and 18 month old son named Grayson. i recently took him to see a child therapist because he was exibiting really aggressive behavior towards me. and when i say aggressive i mean the kid would have me in tears terrified of what he was going to do. so a little history on us ive always been a single mom. his dad has never met him. unfortunately we have had to move alot twice cross country in the past year. but ive always strived to make sure he knows how much mommy loves him. recently we moved to washington from colorado because i have become very ill and needed help from my mom to take care of us. that's when the aggression started. i tried to write it off as maybe the terrible twos or him just not being comfortable with the move. his pediatrician had the luxury of witnessing his extreme behavior at his last well baby check and she said he needed therapy soon. so i guess i dont nessecarily understand how they are going to counsel a child who barely speaks and how they can make a diagnosis as severe as reactive attachment disorder.ive been there his entire life aside from working to keep a roof over our head any moment i have i spend with him. ive never done anything to harm him, some might even say hes spoiled to death. i just dont know how to process the information thats been given to me about it and i was wondering if there were any other parents who have the same issues with their child. i love him more than life and there isnt anything i wouldnt do for him to make him happy, but my mental, emotional, and physical health are failing and it seems this is playing a huge part in all of it.

Hi Erin,

It sound as though you trying your hardest to get to core of the problem...I do not know if you ever had any blood work up done in past to see rather this could  related to allergies or foods...Suggestions: Do your doctor offer alternative treatments or go through medical insurance....There nothing wrong getting a second opinion

unfortunately the child therapist was the third opinion. I've done some research on the disorder and my doesn't seem like he would fit the criteris for having it, but he does present all of the symptoms. I'm at a loss. I don't know what to do :(

I would rule out any allergies & medical conditions because research has been done in past even with  some hyperactivities, autism etc.. diet plays important roles on certain behaviors...I know from previous situations with children doctors needs to be more open to alternative medicines... If you tried tradition meds. & do not like results look into other things...I am simply offer some suggestions  two good books to read Smart Medicine for a Healthier Child Janet Zand ND,LAC,Robert Rountree MD,Rachel Walton MSN,CRNP, A practical A-Z Reference to Natural and Conventional Treatments for Infants & Children Readers Digest Know your options The Definitive Guide choosing medical treatments

I hope you find answer you looking from your doctors....

I am only offer some suggestions

awhile ago when we lived in Virginia he was tested for allergies because he was getting earinfections often and since i have an allergy to ammoxicillion they wanted to make sure he wouldnt have the same. they did the full allergy panel with the chart on the back and poking him a whole bunch. they came up with nothing, luckily he also doesnt astma which is something ive had all my life. he was a well rounded diet and by all medical standards is the perfect height and weight, he also tests out at an intelligence level of a 2-3 year old. im wondering if maybe there wasnt an incident that occured at his old daycare that im unaware of, or some other occurance that would have sparked this kind of reaction from someone so young. i will look into picking up those books you suggested and appreciate your input. im just not willing to accept this diagnosis yet and was wondering if there were other parents that have maybe had the same experience.
