How do you find a sitter for your child???

I am mommy to an Autistic 3 year old and a 20 month old and June 20th I am scheduled to have a C-section and needing someone to be at my house early in the morning. I plan on putting them in daycare on that day but will have to be at the hospital at around 4:30 AM. The daycare opens at 7 AM. I have no one to help including my family. They always have some excuse as to why they can't but I am not so easy to trust strangers with my kids. My 3 year old once unlocked the front door and left my house before I even woke up and I fear he would do it again with anyone but me. I never have a sitter and go anywhere without kids but I'm so fearful something will happen when I'm not there. Does anyone have any advice for me?I'm extremely stressed about this.

Oh Stacy, I feel for you.  I never leave my kids either.  Only with my husband or my sister.  No one else gets my ASD son and I trust no one.  It's terible isn't it, how we can't really use childcare?

I have no great advice, but want you to know you are not alone.  Are there any Autism parent groups near you?  I am part of one, through email mostly, and get updates ad well as recommendations.  People ask the group for things like babysitter recommendations all the time.  I have seen names of some quality sitters equiped to deal with Autism.

Good luck!
