My little girls eyes...

Hey guys, was just wondering if anyone could give me some feedback.  Our middle child just got her physical for school yesterday and they said her vision is 20/40 in one eye and 20/25 in the other.  They mentioned seeing an eye doctor since there's such a difference between the two eyes.  I guess my question is will she still need glasses or are the doctors just trying to suck more money out?  I definitely don't want her to have problems at school but was just wondering how necessary glasses would be for this.  Any input or advice would be great!

i would consult an eye doctor.they would probably give you better insight on the situation.  my daughter who is now 6 has had glasses since she was 3, the first year she didnt like them at all i had a hard time keeping them on her. her eyes got a little worse and last year they had to change her prescription. i would get her eyes checked, it may affect her in school.

I am trained to do vision screening at schoolve a doctors and I am a nurse. We have caught many vision issues and it does make a big difference in their ability to see and learn if it is the case.  Regardless, she should be seen by an eye doctor to verify the screening.  If the screening is wrong then you won't spend any more money and will have the peace of mind that your child has nothing related to her vision holding her back.  And if there is an issue it is well worth the money and the investment for her future.  I do recommend you get a warranty on the glasses if she breaks them and/or the scratch resistance lenses as well..  Kids are very rough on them and things always seem to happen when you least expect it.  Good luck!!

Thanks so much for the input.  I'm definitely going to get her an appointment and go from there.  Hopefully she'll be OK with glasses if they say their needed.  She's already very shy and I worry about her making friends her first year of school.

i know how you feel my daughter is in kindergarten and shes the only student with glasses in her class, and yes sometimes the other kids make fun of her but she knows that she is beautiful no matter what. there are great books out there, i bought princess peepers for her and she loves it, she also loves the fact that some of her favorite celebrities wear glasses like joe jonas lol

Yes Dawn I agree that is a great idea.  Kim, just let her know how much better she can see now and how pretty she looks with her new glasses.  There are some really cute styles now to choose from..  Hopefully she won't be teased!! But her life will benefit from them if she really does have an issue. Once again she may not need them at all but you won't know until she has her beautiful eyes tested. The doctors will make it a fun experience for her and wishing you and your daughter the best of luck.  Kim make it a postive experience and she will do just fine and remind her how special she is and how much you love her new look.  Good luck and best wishes!!
