Hi Lexi, my name is Sandy and I am a single Mother to a 3 year old little girl. I was married but got divorced and became a single Mom when my daughter had just turned 2 years old. My advise to you would be to follow your instincts. As far as potty training...all kids are different. I think some Moms start training before the kids are ready. You will know when she is ready by the amount of wet diapers. Is there a period of a couple hours before a wet diaper? Is there a wet diaper in the morning when she first wakes? Have you tried setting her on the potty even with clothes on to see what her reaction is to that?
My daughter will be 3 and she refuses to fully train and I started training her a few months ago. She will go poop and peepee on the potty, BUT only when she feels like it. Everyone tells me that she will do when she is ready. If I force the issue it will only prolong her learning. There are so many different ways of knowing when your toddler is ready. There are so many different websites that you can look into. Try huggies.com.
In regards to a "big girl bed"...I would wait on that until you absolutely need to move her. I got my daughter Sienna her "big girl bed" when she was 2 1/2 years old and the ONLY reason was because she started trying to climb out of her crib and I did not want her to get hurt. Otherwise she would still be in a crib. It's a whole new world to them when they get into a bed and a whole new battle for us as parents.
The last piece of advise I can offer you about all of this...try not to do both things at the same time. Too much too soon can only backfire on you. You don;t want to overwhelm her. As I said before...trust your instincts and good luck :))
