Oragel side effects?
We noticed yesterday that our daughter is becoming hoarse. She sounds pitiful when she crys! She's 7 months old and is teething. We've been applying oragel on her gums to help with the pain, and am wondering if that could be causing her to lose her voice. She's not sick, atleast from what we can tell. Maybe she's coming down with something? Was just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this? Thanks!

i just used orajel now, i havent noticed any hoarseness. perhaps she is strainging her voice box when she cries, or just stop the oragel for a bit and see what happens.

Hi Shawna,
I try not to use this to often, it makes the mouth numb along with the gums. That could cause her to strain even more when crying. I agree with Maryanne about stoping for a few days and see if it clears up. Try a cold washcloth and see if she might chew on it or a little tylenol to help her sleep.

I was given strict instruction by my pedi not to use this stuff whatsoever. I think that it can become toxic if I remember right. He said it was super dangerous. Try a cold wash rag

My son became super hyper - like on speed or something - when we used it twice. Try putting a wash rag in the freezer (not wet) and after frozen give it to them. Teething rings placed in the fridge are great too. If your daughter drinks juice, maybe some frozen homemade popcicles?
