How is she when it comes to going to the bathroom? My daughter is the same way (and age) and I now notice she doesnt go "#2" as much as she needs too. I now use Miralax in her drinks to help her go. It does take 4-5 days to work but after she goes she is a different person. |

As a mom I would go to see another doctor to get other answers to my concern speak up and say maybe some further diagnostic procedures should be taken like xrays is there something going on in her tummy? How is her bathroom practice- does she have difficulty taking a bowel movement or urinating! See as many doctors till you get answers!

Kim, I'm sorry to hear your daughter is feeling sick from her tummy. I'm glad to hear its not stress but just in case make sure all is good in school sometimes young girls don't share everything and that can be stressful. If after that is reviewed then I would watch what she is eating. Try and keep her off of fatty foods and sugar, I'm not a doctor but this helps me. Also, watch what she drinks too because some of those juices have a lot of sugar and she may have food allergies but again I'm not a doctor this is just from experiences. Hope this helps and let me know if there is anything I can help with. Stella |

could she be having problems at school? My nephew used to complain of stomach problems and they finally realized he was being bullied at school. Once they corrected the problem his stomach pains went away.
Also, maybe you could keep a food and drink diary, along with bowel movements and stomach complaints. Maybe it will show if there's some sort of food upsetting her stomach.
And if you don't like your doctor's answer - get a second opinion! In my experience some doctors forget that we know our kids as well as they know medicine. If you are sure there's something wrong and you've exhausted all your avenues for fixing the problem, find a doctor who'll listen and help you determine other possible causes. |

Thanks for the input so far guys. I have considered geetting a second opinion. I've asked her about going #2 and she says yes, but I never get a chance to verify. As far as juices, we avoid anything with sugar and I ask her every day how school is going. She says fine. I think we'll see the doctor again and if he doesn't do any testing, definitely see someone else. Hopefully it's nothing serious. |

Take her back to her doctor and ask for a catscan, mmy son was throwing up with no fever all the time, and he had a brain tumor, it took me 6 months to convince them to run a catscan, make them do it if you have to take her to th er and tell them u aren't leaving till they do, that is what I finally had to do, and it's a good thing I did cause it had grown all it could in his brain, and was getting ready to spread into his spine. It is better to be safe than sorry, she could have an obstruction, be constipated or there could be something else, so please make them do it just to put your mind at rest, they should be able to get to the bottom of it by running the ct. His started out just throwing up every once in a while, but got so bad he was throwing up more that 10 times a day. |

You may want to have her tested for common food allergies (gluten, dairy, etc) even if she hasn't had problems in the past. On a side note, I don't know if I am interpreting this correctly, but it sounds as if her doctor didn't take your concerns very seriously. Even a doctor that has been good in the past may not continue to be if he isn't readly to cover all the avenues when irregular problems arise. You may want to consider looking for a new one or at the very least a second opinion with a gastrointestinal specialist. |

Try having her tested for Celiac disease(Gluten intolerance). It's a simple blood test. Lots of doctors do not think to test for it, but this dissease is so common these days. I suffered my whole life not knowing what it was until I got diagnosed at 30.
It can be any number of things, from simple to serious. I pray that it's something simple and temporary, but you owe it to yourself and your peace of mind to try all avenues. As Heather mentioned, go see a GI specialist.
Good luck and please keep us posted.

Thank you so much for all the responses and sugestions. I'm definitely planning to have her tested for food allergies and get a second opinion. I've come not to like her pediatrician. He seems to me too laid back and gets paid for this. Infuriating! |

Trust your instincts and go for a second opinion. I'm not sure what is wrong but you obviously feel there is more to this than the pediatrician is suggesting. As her Mom I say go with your instincts and you will find out what is wrong.
My daughter is 7 years old and she started school at age 5 Kindergarten. Fortunately she loves school but like some of the other Mom's posted if there was somthing bothering her she wouldn't share it with me immediately. Often it would take a week or more for me to find out if something was bugging her.
There are a lot of great suggestions such as her being constipated to allergies to stress. I'm certain you will find out what is happening but once again trust your insticts and get another pediatrician.
Best of Luck and feel reassured in by your Maternal Instincts you will find out what she needs.
