solid food

hey,

Hi. I have a 10 week old baby and I want to know if any of you started solid food as early as 3 months?!!

Hello:

I would not do solids. I would propbably pureed foods like carrots, pears, green beans peas, squash etc. If your child is ready to eat that.

Is your baby sleeping through the night?

Just wait. Introducing foods too early causes more harm than good. I remember being super excited and I wanted to go into that next step... but refer to your pediatrician's advice! (which they will probably say 3 months is too soon)

I wouldn't do solids just yet either. That is pretty young. The average is 6 months, however you can sometimes start them as early as 4 months. I started my daughter with cereal at 4 1/2 months, but mainly because she had acid reflux and this helped her with it. I didn't start her on pureed foods until the 6 month mark. Every baby is different, but I stick to my guns saying that 10 weeks is way too young.

I agree I think 3 months is too early but I started my daughter at 4 months with ceral and baby food for two feedings a day because it helped hide her acid reflux meds.  She was also showing all the signs to start food such as able to sit upright and was very interested in food.

dont you dare give your baby food yet lol. my doctor said i could try between 4-6 months and i was so anxious that i tried as soon as he was 4 months. he is now 5 1/2 months and has the worst time pooping and is so constipated trying to pass the solids i fed him for only a week when he was 4 months.

I have a 20 week old (5 mo.). Her pediatrician asked if she was sleeping through the night (she is), how many ounces of formula she eats (she eats 6-8oz every 3-4 hours), she has almost doubled her birth weight, and she is a supported sitter, she can hold her own head up. These are usually indicators your baby may be ready for solids.

She started rice cereal 3 weeks ago. After a week of that I started adding pureed fruits, pureed veggies, or fruit/veggie juice to her rice cereal, waiting 4 days before trying each new thing. She had bananas, apples, sweet peas, sweet potatoes, and carrots (She hates carrots). I puree my own fruits and usually buy the pureed veggies as baby food.
