February Reading

Room by Emma Donoghue

Here's the description....It's really good and a quick read. I finished it in a day.

"To five-year-old Jack, Room is the entire world. It is where he was born and grew up; it's where he lives with his Ma as they learn and read and eat and sleep and play. At night, his Ma shuts him safely in the wardrobe, where he is meant to be asleep when Old Nick visits.

Room is home to Jack, but to Ma, it is the prison where Old Nick has held her captive for seven years. Through determination, ingenuity, and fierce motherly love, Ma has created a life for Jack. But she knows it's not enough...not for her or for him. She devises a bold escape plan, one that relies on her young son's bravery and a lot of luck. What she does not realize is just how unprepared she is for the plan to actually work.

Told entirely in the language of the energetic, pragmatic five-year-old Jack, ROOM is a celebration of resilience and the limitless bond between parent and child, a brilliantly executed novel about what it means to journey from one world to another.

just finished dangerous curves by pamela britton. its a nascar themed book in the nascar harlequin line

Special Agent Lea Blackwell is smart, savvy and knows her way around a race car. Heading up a team to investigate the murder of a NASCAR driver is right up her alley. The only problem is NASCAR star Blain Sanders, the man who requested her. Blain is well-heeled, well connected and drop-dead gorgeous-and he knew Lea when she was a drag-racing tomboy with grease under her nails. But Lea has grown up since then, in all the right places. And while catching the killer is her main objective, she's not above making the man who ignored her as a teenager squirm a little. Two people on a surefire collison course. But Lea and Blain are about to discover that the sweetest victory does not always come from winning

reading the man she once knew by jean brashear harlequin superromance

It's been years since Callie Hunter shook the dust of this town from her shoes. Now she belongs in Oak Hollow no more than her stilettos do. Yet here she is—back to settle her aunt's estate. Nothing has changed…except for David Langley. The golden boy who captured her heart seems absent from the tough guy who wants nothing to do with her. Fine. Good. She has a duty to do, then she's gone. Except that David has more than his fair share of legal troubles. That hint of need about him draws her in as though they parted only yesterday. She's got the legal talent to clear his name. And she just might have the heart to save him.

and the next best thing by kristan higgins

Lucy Lang isn't looking for fireworks.
She's looking for a nice, decent man. Someone who'll mow the lawn, flip chicken on the barbecue, teach their future children to play soccer. But most important: someone who won't inspire the slightest stirring in her heart…or anywhere else. A young widow, Lucy can't risk that kind of loss again. But sharing her life with a cat named Fat Mikey and the Black Widows at the family bakery isn't enough either. So it's goodbye to Ethan, her hot but entirely inappropriate "friend with privileges" and hello to a man she can marry.

Too bad Ethan Mirabelli isn't going anywhere. As far as he's concerned, what she needs might be right under her nose. But can he convince her that the next best thing can really be forever?

Room is on my list of books to try.  It sounds good but kind of weird at the same time.  Right now I am reading two books.... Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne and Secrets of a Summer Night by Lisa Kleypas.  Both books are good so far.
