baby friends

hello, i am new, i have a 8 month old baby who was in a school daycare with other babies her age, and now the state took her day care spot away. i still feel like she needs to be around other children but i am the only one of friends who have a kid. since i am only 18 i dont know many other people with kids. what should i do?

I would suggest finding some mommy and me classes or find some local kid activity groups.  They are around you just have to find them.  My daughter is 7 months and we don't do daycare.  I take her to classes sometimes and we make play dates with parents and kids we meet that way too.  My sister has had luck going to the park with her son and meeting kids/parents that way.  Good luck.

Sometimes the cheapest way to make new friends and find new mom friends is to go to the library! ITS FREE! Usually the public library has a toddler/baby story time...and thats a great way to make new friends! The park is always a good way to at least make temporary friends, sometimes the lasting kind too!

My son is 8 months old, and I run my own daycare, I have just a few extra kids, and we go lots of places. We have been to the zoo and the park and the library! Maybe you should look into a home-daycare setting for your little girl...sometimes the state will help pay for your childcare.

All of those are great suggestions, and I have another one. Last October, I enrolled my 2 year-old daughter in a parent-child swimming class at the rec. center. It was twice a week for 4 weeks. We met a lot of really nice parents and kids her age. We continue to get together for play dates with some of them.
