Parents that choose to NOT vaccinate
Public online group

It's that time of year! Vaccination records due!
I have a 17 year old daughter, a 2 year old son and an 11 month old daughter...For the past 13 years I have been asked to provide vaccination records for my daughter...She starts college very SOON...here we go again. My two year old is in a toddler program at Montessori, they want his records unless for religious reason we don't believe in immunization...I always feel I have to just lie and say yes, for religious reasons I don't immunize...For some reason THAT is acceptable. I feel I jump through hoops every year...It is getting easier (after 13 years lol)...Any ideas? What is the politic of vaccination? Does the state get money for the # of children vaccinated? They are always sending reminders and promotions for immunization...

This is very frustrating, Emilie just went for her one year well visit and of coarse the nurse had to tell me how bad it is that I don't get them for her. My ped is very good she respects my view and hands me the forms to sign. I know most states are a little different, but can you get the exemption forms from you dr?

I also found this site, it might help.

Doctors get kickbacks not only from the government but also from vaccination companies. I don't remember the exact number, but if a doctor can show that he/she has a 95%(I think it's 95%) vaccination rate among its patients they get free money.

I live in Indiana right now and they don't have a philosophical exemption. So far I haven't run into anything that makes me "prove" my religious exemption and I haven't had to really argue the religious exemption yet but I'm a bit worrisome.

Hi Talisman,
Welcome to the group. Do you homeschool? You may not have any trouble until college.

Yes we homeschool, but we do things like cub scouts, sports and summer camps so we run into the issue on a fairly regular basis. We just have always lived in a state that allowed personal belief exemptions and now we don't. :)

I think we may always face these problems. I am not sure about the state I live in, I always check with my chriopractor about it. She has 3 children and they don't get vaccines either, they are also homeschooled.

I live in Hawaii. I always thought we were pretty liberal comapred to most states, but it seems the state really tries to drive this down our throat. I still feel wierd fibbing and saying we choose not to bvaccinate for religious purposes, it just seems wrong...I am betting the pharmaceutical companies contribute $$$$ for public health / welfare etc...Now they want to vaccinate our daughters starting at around 10 for one strain of an std that "could" cause cervical cancer...one strain amongst a possible 100...

It's not our kids that could "contaminate" or "infect" others it's quite the opposite...My ped has told me to keep my kids away from newly vaccinated babies as they are carrying a trace amount of whatever they were vaccinated for...He says that this is not something to stress about, and probably has not ever been a problem, but he felt personally that it made sense to just be aware...Made sense to me...

The truth is if you read the literature(I googled it late one night)on what consitiutes religious exemption,I'm sure you would qualify and ease your conscience from what you feel is lying.
For example-some of the vaccines are made from aborted fetus tissues- if you are pro life you will have a problem with this;etc the list goes on....

Last month I had to see another pediatrician from the group and that was a big mistake!!He made a big deal about my kids not being immunized and had us sign some forms.
what gets to me is that he thinks he is right. He is passionate just like I am passionate in the other direction. The pharmaceutical companies are like sharks. They want everyone vaccinated period.I hate it whenever I go to the conventional doctor or take my mom there are those people there the "drug pushers"as my husband call them.Keep us posted!

I have to agree with your hubby about dr's being "drug pushers". I can't believe how often i see new comericals about drugs. I know they are all in it together to make money, but why don't they see how all these drugs and vaccines hurt people. I was reading a story on www.nvic.org about a child that had died and the dr told the parents it was sids, it turned out he had to send a report to the cdc/gov how it was a vaccine that killed this child and the father later found out. It's makes me angry that some do know and still they push.
