Hi, I am a mom of three daughters 7, 9 & 12. My problem lies with my 9yr. old.  She is intelligent and full of love.  Unfortunately her social skills aren't very strong and she tends to be very sensitive. I just started her in therapy to help her figure out how to handle herself in different situations with all kinds of people.  

My heart breaks when she comes to me and says "Mommy how come no one invites me to birthday parties or over to play?" What does one say to that sweet face looking up at you in desperation?  Okay, know I'm emotional, Sorry!  

My goal with this post is to possibly find friends for my daughter. She is not perfect but she is only 9 and needs to grow and learn.  If there are any parents out there that are wiling to share a growing friendship please let me know.

I purchased a workbook for my 8 year old son.  Let's Be Friends by Dr. Shapiro.  It helps them understand how to share feelings, handle rejection and feel in control of their own social situation.  I can not tell you how many times I have cried watching my son's little heart get broken by other kids that leave him out of everything.  Your other two daughters can play a huge role in helping her to learn social skills through skits, etc.  Good luck.

My daughter is 8, 9 in may. She has a hard time keeping friends. She is very smart, but lacks in the friendship dept. We unfortunately live very far from eachother- but would your daughter like to have a pen pal? I'm sure mine would. she loves to write. If so leave me a msg and I can send over our address!
