20,000 Angels
The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of thousands. Psalm 68:17
If you believe the Bible, you believe in angels. References to angels occur in seventeen books in the Old Testament and seventeen in the New. The Psalms give us many reassurances about angels, telling us that the angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him (Psalm 34:7), that God commands His angels to watch over us and guard us in our ways (Psalm 91:9-13), and that His angels are our examples in worship, praising the Lord, and doing His bidding (Psalm 103:20-21).
Psalm 68:17 says there are 20,000 angels, but that's a Hebrew figure of speech as the verse goes on to explain, meaning thousands of thousands. Daniel 7:10 says "ten thousand times ten thousand." Revelation 5:11 uses "myriads of myriads" to express the number of angels. Two of these good angels are mentioned by name in the Bible: Michael and Gabriel. But every angel undoubtedly has a special name. God even calls the stars by name. He knows our names, and we have a personal place in His heart. Remember today that God knows your name, and His angels are watching over you.
Though God's Power be sufficient to govern us, yet for man's infirmity He appointed His angels to watch over us. An inscription in an old church in Scotland
