question for stay at home moms

My dauther is 5 and has started kindergarten this year. when she is home she throws tantrums that I dont think are normal. She kicks, bites her brothers, throws things at people and walls, etc.. We have always been a pretty mellow family and I don't know where she is learning this behavior. Time outs, spankings, and taking away her toys do not work. Does anyone have any idea on how to control the tantrums and get her to listen to me?

I think you should sit down with her calmly and find out waht is making her so angry. If it didn't start until she started kindergarden there must be a reason why. Maybe she is picked on during school hours and chooses to let her anger out at home because she is safe there, or if she is used to getting all the attention at home then has to go to school and share it with 20 or so other kids, she could be doing it for attention purposes. once you get to the root of the tantrums it will be easy to find a solution.
