Toddler Bed

Hi everyone,

My daughter is turning two in November I was just wondering how old were your children when they moved from a crib to a toddler bed?

my son was 15 months when he started sleeping in a toddler bed. He started climbing out of his crib between 13 and 14 months so we figured he was ready and we didnt want any injuries. It took him a couple days to get used to it but after that he loved it!

My twin boys are three and still sleep in a crib.  They are in the same room and have only climbed out a few times but not enough to warrant converting their cribs to toddler beds, yet. I rather wait until they have their own rooms.

My son was two and a half when we moved him out of the crib to a toddler bed and just this month we moved him to a twin bed.  My daughter who is 18 months is still in the crib we are thinking of moving her into the toddler bed after she turns two.

My daughter is 28 months and I am thinking of putting her in a bed by Christmas. She has never climbed out of her crib as of yet and she still definitely fits it well. I think I am more excited about the thought of the transition then anything. I am also starting potty training, so I think it would be easier for her to be in a bed.

We transitioned my daughter when she was 18 months to make room for the new baby.  We even moved her into a new room!  We put the crib and the toddler bed in her new room and had her sleep in the crib for a few weeks to get use to the new room.  Then I put her down for a nap in the big bed and she loved it!  We took down the crib that night.  She did wonderful!  She didn't even crawl out of bed until a few weeks after that.  The transition was so much easier than I thought it was going to be.  Good Luck, I hope yours goes just as smoothly.

We just changed my son, Liam's, crib to a toddler bed a couple weeks ago.  He's just over 2 1/2.  He said, "It's perfect!"  Lol.  I don't think he's really sure what "perfect" means yet, but he seems to like it.  My dad's going to make him bunkbeds when he gets here in a couple weeks, so we can change the toddler bed back into a crib for the new baby coming, next month.  We're also going to do his new bed in a cars theme to help the transition and hopefully he won't be too jealous of the new baby.  Good luck with your daughter's crib - bed transition.

hi,

my twins are 2 1/2 years old and still in their cribs as long as they don't try to climb. I'm thinking of a toddler bed but I'm not sure about it. How far your kids sleep in a toddler bed before they need a bigger one? How old were your kids when you had to change the toddler bed for a twin one?

My son slept in his toddler bed from 15 months til he was almost 2 1/2. we promised to get him a twin bed once he was fully potty trained. It helped him with potty training too, he got to pick out his own bedding, we even painted his room to match the spongebob theme he wanted.

My daughter Sienna is 28 months and my intentions are to get her into a bed by Christmas. She hasn't tried climbing out of her crib and still fits it very well, but she is getting potty trained right now and I would like for her to have the freedom to use the potty at night if she needs to. Also, she has started wanting Mommy's bed which makes me believe that her having her own big girl bed would be beneficial to her and me.

Has anyone else transitioned before their babies started climbing out?

Hi Sandy, My twins (2 1/2) doesn't climb out of their crib but I want to have my girl out of the crib to avoid accidents since she is not on diappers. But I'm planning on let my boy in his crib since he's not potty trained and he has hard time going to bed.
