Won't pee in the potty!

Okay, I know this is a tired subject by now, but I need help! My 3 1/2 year old son has absolutely NO interest in using the potty. We put him on it 1-3 times/day, sometimes with a book. We have had a few successes, but it was just luck. He just happened to have to poop at the exact same time we put him on it. A dirty Pull-up doesn't bother him and he never tells us when he has to go.

Bad parent confession: we both work, and are generally pretty busy. That's not the bad parent part, by any means. I just think that our lives can get kind of hectic. Couple that with a child who never really could get on a schedule and you get an un-potty trained toddler.

Will we be changing his diapers when he is 17? Ha ha. Just kidding...I hope

:)

Hi...me again!
I noticed that no one has replied to my cry for help. I am going to re-post, because it is a month later, and no progress.

I don't know if this will help or not, but there's a great book out there called "The Potty Boot Camp: Basic Training For Toddlers", by Suzzane Riffel.

A couple of weeks ago I decided to ditch the diapers, except while my son was sleeping.  He never cared if his diaper was wet or poopy, but as soon as he had an accident in his undies, he was upset!  He had used the potty a lot before this, but I was never consistent with it.  I decided that I didn't want to drag the potty training process on, so I decided on the "boot camp" method.  I did the first four days on my own and he did SO well, but he wasn't really self-initiating, so I decided that I could use a little help.  The book is sold in stores, but I bought the ebook (only $5.95).  I found that I was already doing a lot of the stuff, but it was really helpful!  It really is like a boot camp, but a nicer version.  I would invest at least a weekend once you start it, but a week would probably work better.

I don't know of another way, but the boot camp way worked for us.  It's been two weeks now and Finn has done incredibly well, with very few accidents.  He's gone over 3 days now without one!  And he's been waking up with a dry diaper, holding it til he gets out of the crib!

I hope this helps, and if not, don't despair...he'll get it!

p.s. the website for the method is http://www.ThePottyBootCamp.com, in case you wanted to check it out.

Oh, I forgot to mention, the book is only 32 pages long, and VERY straightforward and easy to read.

Thank you Andi!

I am on it! Heis supposed to  start school in a couple weeks, and they won't take him if he's not trained. I really appreciate your advice. Will keep you posted :)

My son just turned 3 and he would go to the potty to pee but not poo. He goes in the corner or under the table, then i have a messy underwear to clean. he will poo when his friend is over but that is only two days a week.

Id say just keep sending him to the potty every 30 min, weather he has to go or not.

Good luck!
