It is completely norrmal to not have your period until a month or more AFTER you stop breastfeeding.  It was 2 months after I stopped breastfeeding that I got my period.  However, it is important to remember that, although breastfeeding does often prevent ovulation, it does not always prevent it.  Even if you do not have a period, it is possible that you have ovulated and could get pregnant, so if you are not ready for another baby, then it is important to use birth control.  Hope this helps.

Consider yourself lucky Mandy!!  I breastfeed exclusively and still got my period after only 6 months!!

I got my period after 6 weeks, but I was told that it's possible to not get it at all! Although when period time comes there's less milk for a few days and it flows slower too.

I breastfed my daughter until she was 9 months and didn't get my period until about 6 weeks after I stopped breastfeeding.  It was so nice not having one then I conceived again in Janurary so it's like I've almost forgotten what it's like to have a period for like 3 years :)

Every woman and their menstrual cycle are completely different. Some get their period right away, others when their babies begin solid foods (because their producing less milk), and others not until their finished breast feeding all together. I'm 7 1/2 months into breast feeding with no sign of Aunt Flow, it's nice isn't it? Wink
