i have boys so i don't know if it makes a difference. i had a "potty party". decorated it with stickers, balloons, whatever i could find. set an alarm for every 1/2 hr. so he could attempt to go. went to the store and let him pick out big boy underwear. let him choose the color, but gave him 1 plain m&m for each thing he did in the potty. 1&2 got him 2 m&m's. his brother also got what he did so it would make him proud of what he did. when i put him in undies, he had the plastic diaper on the outside, i brought a change of clothes with me everywhere i went, and lined his seat with a towel for easier mess cleanup. whatever you do, don't let her see your frustration. i find that it only delays the process. his father was frustrated and said he would never learn. with children everything is a process, from crawling, walking, talking, etc. potty training is no different. have no fear, she will most likely not go to prom in diapers, lol! my son started at about 1.5 and didn't get it until 4.5! :O may be a long road, but she will get it and hopefully it will soon be a memory! best of luck! |
