Toddler getting use to newborn!

Hello,

I am a mother of a toddler and a newborn, I was wondering if someone could give me advice on knowing how to get my toddler knowing that I can't get that something that he needs right away, and that he needs to have more patience with mommy now that his baby sibling is here now!

Another question and concern I have is to get that attention to my toddler, and that he knows that I love him more than anything and nothing has changed. I want him to be able to understand. I want some ideas of what to do when my newborn is down for a nap and I can spend that quality time with my toddler, some crafts or activities!

Thank You

How old is your toddler?

i think you can involve a toddler that is any age. baby's can be "cool" to children. i have 6,3, 4mo. boys. the older one's try to help me out. they love it! if i'm doing something i ask them for help, from feeding to changing to holding, burping, etc. the baby looks at the oldest with such happiness and the oldest say's that's my baby, i think this is the cutest baby i've ever seen, and looks at him with such pride! as far as for activities, try www.starfall.com, www.abcteach.com, www.letteroftheweek.com, www.first-school.ws/, www.dltk-teach.com, www.scholastic.com/little scholastic, www.kaboose.com. hope that helps!

I have a 2yr old and a 3 month old. When im feeding or changing the baby and he needs me or wants something i make sure i let him know i hear him and what he wants but right now im changing/feeding baby. And that mommy and baby really need his help. If im feeding i will ask him to come hold the bottle or burp him, if im changing him i ask him to either get wipes, open diaper, etc. So just try to involve the toddler as much as possible i would say. It has been working for me. Now when he sees im doing that he will automatically help me. And if the baby starts crying and he comes out and sees im fixing him a bub he will go over and give baby his paci and tell him its ok baby!!
