NEW SAHM

Hello All,

I am new to this site and I guess you can say that I am at being a SAHM as well. I didn't think the transition from the business world to SAHM would be difficult but it has been. I am 34 and my son is almost 8 months. I take him as many places as I can think of that he would enjoy (we live in Monmouth county, NJ) but it seems like I'm running out of ideas. I try to keep him in the house at least twice per week so we can work on floor time (crawling, sitting, etc). We have NO playgroups in my area for his age group so I am starting one up myself. HOPEFULLY SOMEONE JOINS!! Still get cabin fever sometimes and always try to make a schedule that will work but seem to change it every week or not even follow it at all. Uhhhg... guess it will take time. Maybe by the time we have our second child I will get the grip. Anyway, hope to meet some new friends on this site, chat and share stories! D

Wow, You sound like me!! Im 34 and my son is 8 months and i am so very new to SAHM that its not even funny!!I have been working sice I could and staying home can make you almost feel bonkers-lol! I couldn't bring myself to put him in daycare, so its quite the challenge to find things to do..I just get in the car and drive sometimes, anywhere,it works, i get a breather from my lil man and he naps. I have taken him to malls and window shopped, he loves to be around people and gets alot of attention-of course, so he eats it up! I have taken him to the park and he swings for a little while, very relaxing.. I too have been trying to make a schedule, but its not worked out-LOL-so I just take it one day at a time, ya know? if I have something to really get done, I find that I can def. get it done, just have to focus more on that one thing. I have def. learned to take my time and slow down, but its still quite the challenge at times!

Hang in there! We will both get it, just takes time like you said!

Oh, I am SO glad :)

I think I post this whenever someone asks (people must think I work for them :)  But it is SUCH an awesome site for people like us- Mom's that don't know where to turn & really want new friends for our children (& ourselves :)  Glad it worked for you!!

Also look at www.mops.org

This is actually an International ministry devoted to moms.  I located this group when I became a SAHM and needed friends for myself and my then, 3 year old son as we relocated.  Click on "locate a group" and it will show you where the nearest group is to you based on zip.  Even though they are chartered through a church - this is not a "churchy" group - it's moms reaching out to help other moms :>)

It is difficult to be a stay at home mother. I went from being a teenager who was going to go to college to a new mother and it's been a very hard transition for me.

Gosh, I hope that you have some help! It isn't so easy no matter how old you are..It seems like its been a bit rough for me as well.Reach out for support-it is definently out there! Did you try the meetup site? or the mop site? Both are mentioned in this group and they are definently worth checking out!
