I completely understand the 'depending on someone else's income' concern. I worked for a corporation for 14 years & always considered myself financially independent (although we're married) - at least up until December when our daughter, Laurel, was born. As soon as we found out we were expecting, we decided that I would stay home w/ her for the first year (at least) & I started putting every penny I could into a savings account so I'd feel like I still had 'my' money after my paychecks stopped coming in. Honestly, it's such a blessing being able to stay home w/ Laurel that I don't even think about the fact that we're living on 'his' income, per se. The way I look at it...I have the opportunity to stay home & raise my child...I take care of the house (cleaning, laundry, dinner on the table @ 5 every day)...this is my 'job' now & I kinda look at it as though he's paying me now instead of the company. Hope this helps! |
