My son took an interest to puzzles around that age. We started with wooden puzzles, where you put a piece in place over the picture of what it is. After he got the hang of it, I bought him some 12 piece wooden puzzles (from Tuesday Morning--if you have one locally). He just fell in love with them.
I would also print out coloring sheets from the internet (i.e. three different snow men) and let him pick the color then, I would color the area he picked (i.e. the snow man's hat or scarf). We practiced naming the colors this way.
Rythm sticks are fun (and cheap!). You can find songs online to sing with them. They make a neat noise and funny vibration when you rub them together. |
