My son is almost 16 months old and I am having a hard time trying to come up with fun things for him/us to do! Can anybody tell me what kids this age like/enjoy doing? This is my first and only child so he doesn't have anyone to play with other than me and his dad but when the weather is cold outside I can not seem to come up with indoor play activities for him!!

well playdoh may be a good idea if you dont have carpet, but otherwise I would save that till he can go outside and play with it in the driveway or something.  We finger painted with water colors, it washes out of ANYTHING as long as you don't let it sit forever(but I always put a old stained shirt on him anyways)...We also color alot in his coloring books.

i put the play doh on a cookie sheet so it doesn't get all over the place.  seems to keep things pretty contained.

My son took an interest to puzzles around that age. We started with wooden puzzles, where you put a piece in place over the picture of what it is. After he got the hang of it, I bought him some 12 piece wooden puzzles (from Tuesday Morning--if you have one locally). He just fell in love with them.

I would also print out coloring sheets from the internet (i.e. three different snow men) and let him pick the color then, I would color the area he picked (i.e. the snow man's hat or scarf). We practiced naming the colors this way.

Rythm sticks are fun (and cheap!). You can find songs online to sing with them. They make a neat noise and funny vibration when you rub them together.
