Work at Home Moms
Public online group

working moms, are you there?

I thought that this group was for moms that work at home and wanted to talk about their experiences. I for one get a little disconnected with the world and was hoping to connect with others like me but this group seems to be mostly ads for business opportunities. Are there any other moms like me in the group?

I am like you!!  But I agree this has mostly been a place where ads have been posted so I have mostly ignored this group. :(

Hi Brandi!

My name is Kelli, I'm a SAHM/WAHM of 3 in upstate New York.  I love working from home.  Not only do I get to be with my children, which I wouldn't miss out on for anything, I am able to help out with the family finances.  I really like the flexibility, too.  Since I do marketing, I can go out in the world with the kids and still get a some work done!

I think I was a little disconnected this winter with the bad weather, but then again, I didn't have to get out in it if I didn't want to!  I think my biggest challenge is the occasional evenings that I go out and not getting to tuck my little ones in.  They hardly seem to mind anymore, but I miss out on the fun!  Like I said, that doesn't happen often, so it's a small sacrifice.

How about you?  Likes and dislikes?  Favorite parts and challenges?

Hey!

Thanks for responding to my message. Well, I work full time at home and also run my own clothing company in between it all. I also drive into L.A. twice a week to work in the office so my schedule isnt quite as flexible but I am hoping the clothing company pays off and I can have that. I feel very fortunate to work from home and have my son near me all the time. I ususally have my husband or mom here to help out because otherwise I feel like I am not being fair to him by working when he wants to play. My favorite parts are just being able to do things like take him for a walk or feed him lunch, tickle him and sing songs in between working. Its a great substitute for the usual in between work gossip that I used to have to endure! Challenges would have to be making him feel like he is my top priority when people are work are waiting on me to finish a project! It can be like pulling 2 ways at once.

I am glad that there are others like me that arent looking to recruit but just to chat about the life that most of our friends dont quite understand

: )

Have a good day!

Hi there!  I am a work at home Mom too.  I just found this website and am very excited to see other people who understand just how hard it can be to work at home and take care of your kids.  I have a 15 mo old who is awesome and I am so glad I get to be home with her.  However some days I think I will go crazy trying to take care of her and get my work done at the same time.  I  often feel disconnected too although it's getting easier to get out and about with her now that the weather is getting nicer and she is getting older.  I went thru some bad PPD and am just now starting to feel like myself again.  That coupled with the fact that my daughter wasn't a great sleeper made my life pretty hard for a while.  I wouldn't trade it for anything but it would be nice to have other people who understand.  Unless you are doing it I don't think you can know how hard it is.

Right now I get up at 4AM to get a jump on my work and work until she gets up.  Then I work during nap times.  What I don't get done during the day I can finish up on the weekends.  Not sure what I am going to do when she drops a nap.

It's nice to know I'm not alone
