Living in southern California, I find it way too hot to go for walks with my daughter (2 mo.). I honestly don't have all that much room in my house to do any cardio exercises...so what do I do to lose the extra 50 pounds I have taking up space on my body? Any ideas for small space/indoor cardio workouts? |

Jumping jacks, knee lifts, lunges, housework (vacuum fast and a lot), if you have cable or satellite TV, check out when the fitness shows are on. Leslie Sansone has walking in your living room DVDs that are good.
If you do decide to go walking in the heat make sure you (and your daughter) are well-hydrated before you go, and that you drink water during walk as well.
I'll let you know if I think of anything else. |

Thanks for the advice. Once I get the motivation, I will try the house cleaning method. |

It's funny. I'm used to looking for ways NOT to exercise, not ways to work it in!
Sometimes I forget that mothers with babies and small children can't be as flexible as I can with getting exercise. I'm here to tell you, Maggie, and all the other moms of young kids - I loved it when my kids were babies; I miss them being able to snuggle in my lap without towering over me; BUT I love having some of my freedom back now that they can do for themselves while I take care of my needs. |

Maggie I am not sure about the weather over there for the whole day, but maybe try squeezing something in in the early morning or before it gets to dark that way it is a little cooler. As kelly said stay hydrated and ensure you wear sunblock you and baby. Utalize your baby and lay on your back with your knees bent and have her up on your knees while you support her and rock back and forth this will help out your stomach. Also you can walk around the mall I know a lot of moms who do some meet ups there so that they can get the excercise. |

Oh yeah! I always forget about the mall since we don't have one! There are several in Tulsa, though, and they all welcome walkers. |

I don't think I could do that, besides wouldn't you just lose water weight from sweating? |

All great ideas, although I think I might skip the "hot pants". I'm trying to avoid the heat. I actually just bought a mommy and me yoga dvd yesterday. It says that it is supposed to bring my baby and I closer together while I lose weight. Now, who wouldn't want that? Now...trying to find the room to do yoga is another thing! |

No kidding! You may have to move furniture every day - that's a work out in itself!
In my fondest dreams I was a mother who started baby & me exercise stuff and my child never knew any different than that you had to exercise daily (there's a perfect nutrition component too).
In reality, the only time my kids were encouraged to exercise was when they were driving me nuts ("Go run up and down the sidewalk and burn some of that energy off!") and the perfect nutrition days ended when my firs child was 6 months old. I found one of my husband's (grown) cousins giving my child, who have only had breastmilk until that very day, chocolate pudding at a Christmas gathering!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To this day he still likes chocolate better than milk - SIGH! |

I think the hot pants woul dwork but what about it making you funky I mean it is on our portion of our bodies that does produce some of the nastiest smelling stuff. Sorry to gross anybody out. I wouldn't mind losing some water weight since it is hard for me to sweat. Where did you get them from? Are they mad eof Neoprine? I have some shorts like that. They are suppose to help shape your but and thighs while you workout or whenever you wear them. |
