My son is 2 and he rarely wants to eat anything. I'm lucky if I can get him to eat a meal. Sometimes when I make it nutritious healthy food he will eat, but all he wants is junk and I won't let him do that. Unfortunately when we go to my mother in law's house, when he is in the middle of eating my husband and I will tell her no, but she still will give him ice cream, candy, sweets, and then he doesn't want to finish his supper. |

I understand what you are going through. My daughter is 21 months old and recently became a very picky eater. She usedto eat her meals. We are a healthy eating household and she enjoyed her meals. Hoever, now I can barely get her to eat a grilled cheese. What I do, is leave the meal out for about an hour depending if it can be out that long and when she gets hungry she will pick at it. I try not to stress about it because she is 34 pounds and is not wasting away. Plus she stays hydrated and has daily bowel movements. I hope I have at least set your mind at ease. Sincerely, Eiliza |

My son is a picky eater also. We always eat a bite or two of his food, while he is watching. This normally gets him to at least taste the food before saying no. I also read that if you provide two or three choices, the child will probably eat at least one item. Maybe you and your husband can talk to your mother-in-law and ask her nicely to lay off the sweets. Tell her before going over to have dinner. Let her know it would be a big help on getting your son to eat healthy. He is your son; it is your decision. |
