HELP!

HELP! My 14month old girl started bout a week ago shoving her hand so far down her mouth as to make her gag and choke. She hasnt actually threw up yet but gags herself idk how to get her to stop or why she has started doing this. Has anyone else went through this?

How many teeth does she have?  My son started doing this when he was getting his 2yr molars.  By 1yr he had 16teeth and at 15mo he started getting his 2yr molars, now at 27mo he has all his teeth.  I just had to keep telling him to stop and to get his hand or hands out of his mouth.  He would listen for a second and then stick his hand or hands back into his mouth.  I tried to give him ice and teething tablets but that only helps a little when its the molars.  He finally grew out of sticking his WHOLE hand in his mouth, now its just a finger here or there to bite his nails(which I'm trying to break *when I was his age I bit my nails*)

Ok I looked up teeth chart and looked in her mouth she is starting to get the molars. So i guess that is why she is shoving her hand in her mouth bc she does chew on her finngers alot whenshe teething so that makes since?

well the way you explained it thats what it sounded like...well in total they get 20teeth, 4 of them are molars...she's getting the first set of molars, and the molars hurt worse than the others cause they are flat and its harder to break the gums and bigger.  Maybe you can crush up some ice for her to suck or chew on, or some sugar free popsicles or something like that to help numb the gums a little.  When my son was getting his molars(both sets) it was durring the summer so I could give him the sugarfree popsicles and he was able to be messy without the mess in the house.

Yeah I think that is what she is getting its kind of early for them but she has gotten all her teeth early. Its still pretty cold out here i have been givin her teething teething tablets and that helps some but doesnt last long i have tried to give her ice but she doesnt want it. I will try some popsicles or maybe frozen friut?

yea frozen fruit sounds good, u wanna make it small chunks.

my son teethed early, he had 16teeth by1 and had all 20 by the time turned 2 so I understand what you are going through.  Its so hard to sit there and watch them hurt but you don't wanna keep them drugged up on pain meds but some times it helps to either give motrin or tylenol

Yeah i have some frozen fruit thats why i asked and i do give her motrin or tylenol sometimes but only when she is really really hurting and fussing i try not to give it to her alot. My daughter had 8 teeth at 7months and then stoped getting teeth till she was a year then got like 4 back to back.

the whole teething part of childhood sucks so bad, for the child and the parent...but we wouldn't want them born with teeth but you don't want them to grow up without them.  BUT once they get all their teeth the drooling gets WAY better and all you'll have to worry about then is making sure they brush the teeth.  I use to at bed time rub my sons gums with the oralgel stuff but then I've heard that that only makes it worse...but it seemed to help him a little but not much so maybe you could try that(I just thought of it as I was typing)

I wouldn't worry about the gagging thing too much...your little one will figure it out on her own...she won't choke herself with her own hand, and it's better than around the clock crying
