New to Fremont

Hi, we're fairly new to the area and need to find ways to socialize our 4yr (and 17 month old). We're also looking for a preschool that doesnt demand full immunizations untill we have him fully diagnosed for his speech delay & behaviors. He is still a great kid :) We currently do Gymboree "school skills" and he does well with that. Thanks! -Polly

Hi Polly

We are in Fremont too and my boys had speech delays too from 16 mths...we got early intervention where my daughter attended kidango preschool..Though my kids are upto date with immunizations we did a have issues from the sch with them not getting a TB test done but then we told them on religious ground we do'nt want to & they accepted..maybe u may try this approach. Kidango is a gr8 school...

If he gets services from sch district u may ask for head start program (now my trio are attending there since only one of my boy has speech delay & a student of glanker)

let me know i u need urther info.

Hi Bindu

MY kids goes to "Head start" program and one of them goes THRU GLanker (he's registered as glanker student but attends Head start preschool at Hacienda.Head start is a federally funded Gvt preschoo(FREE) where they take kids from low income families and also kids from Glanker .They have class where 10 kids are usual ones and 5 kids from glanker (who has mild delays like speech..) so its a good option for delayed kids to interact with usual kids.

We did not qualify as low income (I wonder who does in California) but since one of my triplets goes thru glanker they accepted the other two.

I know that Glanker school does not cater to mild speech delays (they have limited budgets) so these kids get lost in the crowd. I was fighting with them (asked for 2 eval) yet one of my son did not get any services from them so I gave up.Maybe ur kid really does not need therapy just more social exposure or maybe he does, go by your own instint.

Like me u may ask them to RE-evaluated ur son & if he qualifies he can also attend "Head start program" .MY speech delayed kid improved a lot thru this. But if again ur they refuse therapy then ask them if they can take him for intergrated class(head start) & keep pushing for this.I donno if u have signed the IEP or not.

As for playdates I wish i could expose them to more kids (since triplets they stick with each other) but I do not drive as of now (had 2 brain tumor surgeries ) so they keep missing the parks(which is best place to make friends), libraries.......

u can email me at dmadhura@gmail.com if u want more info.

Hope this helps
