Hello - My Booklist

It's been a while since I came on here. However, I do love a good book.

Lately I have been reading books by Jodi Picoult. Most touch on sensitive  moral and emotional topics that are not usually very black and white for the people involved and I definitely recommend her work. A couple titles are : Vanishing Acts, MiddleSex, Change of Heart, My Sister's Keeper. The all deal with issues such as either the kidnapping of a child by an separated parent, coming to terms with being a hermaphrodite as a teen, accepting a heart donation from a criminal, and feeling that the only reason you were born was to keep your sick sister alive through blood and organ donations. Although the topics are gory, the writing is not. You are able to identify with the characters, get a sense of humor and every other emotion.

I've also been re-reading a few classics:

Catcher in the Rye (JD Salinger), 1984 (George Orwell)

I read My Sister's Keeper recently and I loved that.  That is the only one I have read by her but I have The Tenth Circle on my shelf.  Which of her books is you favorite?

i'm not sure which is my favorite. I have enjoyed all so far, the only slight disappointment being the end of Handle with Care,  although the stroy  itself was quite riveting. I have requested Tenth Circle from the library so I am waiting to read that one shortly. All I know is any time I pick up a Jodi Picoult I look forward to a riveting, thought provoking and interesting story that I am compelled to read to the end.

Before Picoult, I was reading quite a few books by Dean Koontz and Vince Flynn. Koontz stories were twisted but good, Flynn's were exciting in a espionage/CIA/Secret Service kind of manner.

I love Jodi Picoult. She really takes you outside your comfort zone and makes you question yourself and how you would handle a not so black and white situation.

I would be hard pressed to pick a favorite by her. But Handle with Care hit close to home with me and I was really able to relate with the characters. And I agree, the ending was disappointing. But you still thought about the book for days after, like all her books.
