Gluten Free

I was wondering if anyone had any good recipes or ideas for a wheat free diet? We recently discovered that my daughter has a mild allergy to wheat so she's been put on a gluten free diet. I've attempted the gluten free pasta but she wasn't interested in it. It has a different texture than regular pasta so that could have been it.

She eats rice like a champ and for both lunch and dinner she gets some form of rice. But I'm running out of ideas with the rice. Sadly she's the type who hates repeat meals so I can't repeat a dish in more than a 3-4 day period. I do freeze a lot of things and then alternate taking them down. I myself am not a huge rice person but I've found myself making more and more rice dishes for her. So far her favorites are Jambalaya, Dirty Rice, and fried rice. But those can get old real quick. hehe

I wish I could be more help. The only thing I can thing of is that Amy's makes a frozen gluten free cheese pizza. We like to add our own toppings to the pizza and bake it up. They are very good.

Good luck!!

We just found out our youngest has a wheat allergy too and a friend recommended a book that has some really interesting recipes in them.  I read it a little in the bookstore and i ended up buying it since it seemed like a great resource.  Not only does it have a bunch of recipes (I can't wait to try her bread recipes), but it gives a lot of advice on other things as well.

The book is The Gluten-Free Gourmet: Living Well without Wheat, Revised Edition by Bette Hagman.

Although, now that I see the date attached to this post, I'm sure you've already found some great books/sources of your own.

For someone who is new to the diet, do you have any tips or suggestions for me?  I would really appreciate it.
