My daughter is almost 10 months old. She is eating the 2nd foods right now but I am not sure when to start her on snacks like Cheerios or Biter Biscuits. I don't know if she needs teeth first to have them. I am also afraid that Cheerios will get stuck in her throat since she can't chew them up. I also wonder when I should start her on 3rd foods. Any advice?? |

The biter biscuits are fine I think--as long as she's had some solid food she should be fine. Gerber makes these cool things that are like Cheerios but they dissolve in their mouth so they can't choke on them so check those out. My little one is just starting on solids so I can't help you with the 3rd foods thing. Check with your doctor? |

Cheerios are fine too....they dissolve a bit and you'll be surprised at how efficient your little one's gums are at chewing even without teeth!! 3rd foods should be fine too as long as she doesn't mind a little texture. |

Hi Kim,
Personally I waited until my son had teeth to give him the Cheerios and Biter Biscuits. However, I've been giving him the Gerber Graduates pinwheels and fruit puffs since before he had teeth and he loves them. They melt in their mouths so there really isn't as big of a worry of them choking as with the Cheerios etc. With regards to the food just go by the signs your daughter gives you. When I switched my son over to the stage 3 I bought one or two jars and tried them out. If your daughter gags when you try them then I would suggest waiting a week and try again. Good Luck!!! |

My daughter is 7 months old (and has four teeth). This may sound crazy, but little tofu cubes work great. I make all of my daughter's baby food and on the website I use for the recipes it suggested tofu as a finger food. I was skeptical at first, but it actually doesn't taste bad at all; infact, when I put cheerios and tofu on her tray, she always picks the tofu. She can pick it up easily and it is soft, so I don't worry about her choking. I buy it from Walmart and it is in the seciton with the lettuce and other organic veggies. I buy the extra firm cubed type and then cut the cubes in half. Hope this helps! |

I use the website: www.wholesomebabyfood.com It is great and has been really helpful to me. One of the best tips I have gotten is to use cheerio dust (just finely crushed up cheerios) to coat sticky finger foods like bannanas or peaches. It works great and my daughter loves it! hope this helps! |
