Boys Potty Training

Hi,

I'm a mom of a little boy who is almost 4.  He is completely potty trained during the day and on the rare occassions when he will take a nap but has no interest in training at night.  He goes to bed at 8:30 so I've started cutting his liquids at 6:30.  He wears goodnites to bed and sometimes he wakes up dry and sometimes he doesn't.  He woke me up two times the night before last to potty but last night he didn't wake up at all.

We talk about trying to go potty at night but in the morning he says his body didn't tell him to wake up.  I've let all of his other milestones happen naturally but wonder if he might need some help with one.  Thoughts/advice? Thank you.

are you sure he feels it when he's asleep?  My brother who is now 23 wet the bed till he was 20. He just wasn't feeling it enough to wake up to go.  IF he's not feeling it enough to wake up then you should take him to be looked at.  My brother needed to have surgery to fix his problem(not a big deal type) BUT it helped.  Not worry you at all but if he just doesn't feel it I'd go get him checked to see if its a issue a dr could help with or if its just he doesn't want to.

He may just be a heavy sleeper. My son at 2 is fully potty trained and rarely wets the bed unless he drinks right before he goes to sleep.

Make sure you take him to the bathroom right before bed.

Considering we stop liquids early and make him go to the bathroom right before bed the heavy sleeping is probably the problem.  Thanks Heather.

Amers - I'm sure he feels it because he will wake up from a nap to go to the bathroom and then go back to sleep.  However, if this continues  I will bring it up at his next dr. appt.

Thanks ladies!
