hello all

I am a mother of six. three of my owe and three stepchildren. Four of them live at home. I am pretty much a stay at home mom right now. My husband works and of town 5 days a week. So I guess I'm pretty much a single parent too. My daughter has downs but she can do pretty much everything on her own. She needs some help but not much. My oldest stepson has a rare for of MS and is very high needs. He has very few self care skills. At 14 it is like caring for a toddler. My youngest stepson I think has ADHD but my husband won't listen to anyone saying something might be wrong with him so he is not being treated. That makes my life very hard. my youngest son had surgey on his kidneys when he was 2. He wasn't suppose to live past 3 months but he prooved they wrong. I go to school part time while the kids are in school. with no child care and no help I really don't do much. just looking for support and someone to talk to that understands about caring for disabled kids.

Hi Tanya,

I cannot even imagine how chaotic your life must be, but I do understand that chaos can have routine too. I am the mother of two. I have a 14 month old daughter who for all purposes appears to be "normal" and healthy. My oldest is 16 (almost 17). He was born with spina bifida and uses a wheelchair and crutches. He also has ADD and learning disabilities.  While he was younger I raised him on my own for awhile as his father and I divorced so I understand a little bit about that. I get the whole surgery thing as well. We have been through so many in the past 16 years that I have lost count. Anyways, I am sure you will find plenty of us out there who understand and empathize.
