Activities for 1year olds

Does anyone have good activities or games to play with one years old in the house?

Oh there are lots of things! Just keep in mind that most one years olds get bored pretty easily with something.  There is coloring, flash cards to start teaching them numbers and letters.  My daughter used to love helping me clean up.  She'd hand me the dishes and i'd put them away, she put the pots and pans away, after she played with them.  Helping me put away her toys and then we'd vacuum.  Then take all her toys out again and i'd sit on the floor with her and play with her toys with her.  Put on some music with a good beat and dance with them.  Lego's are great, the big ones.  Even silly stuff like rolls of paper towels to build towers with. If you can, playdough, It's non toxic so if they eat a little bit it's not going to hurt them.  Their minds are like sponges and they absorb everything so anything that teaches them, even just hand eye coordination is great.  Oh and hand puppets.  If you have old socks and can get some crafting supplies, even just a pair of eyes, You can make hand puppets and talk to them.  You'd be suprised the things you will come up with to entertain a one year old in the house.

I just wanted to say that this post was very informational for me as I have an 11 month old who Im finding it harder and harder to keep enteratined. I aslo wanted to add that my daughter also does not enjoy the vaccum. At all really. She doesn't cry but she will move away from it with great haste. She doesn't help so much with cleaning either but she does enjoy destroying a room. hehe.

Oh trust me Amanda....she's REALLLY good at destroying the house. Well what house I let her have access too. She's not allowed in any bedrooms but her own during the day nor is she allowed in the bathrooms or office. I try to keep just the living room, kitchen, dinning room, hallway and her room open. It gives her room to move around and wear herself out but keeps her from getting into anything she shouldn't.

And Alexandria....I've been trying to teach my daughter how to put things up to see if it'd help keep her entertained but she wants no part of it. In fact...she gets quite angry when I pick up her toys and messes. She goes behind me and tries to take everything back out. It's quite a fight to pick up her toys but I am clueless as to how to fix that.

I also make sure to give her lots praise when she does help me ans even more when she puts them up herself. I clap my hands and good job nad smile she gets excited and is more willing to help and she its a good thing.

My daughter just doesn't want to help. HAHA. She would rather take everything out. It's a game to her I guess. I put something in her baskets and she takes something else out. It keeps her entertained though so for now I don't mind it. I just let her do it and try to be faster than her during clean up time. HAHA
