re:Introduction

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to say hello and I am happy to be part of the group.  I love to read and have been an avid reader for many years.  Since I've had my daughter though, I read more in spurts, with many stops, and starts. lol

Anyway looking forward to reading what others think are good books and hope to share my insights on books that I am reading.

I know what you mean allison. lol  I have been known to read a book in one day-one of the shorter ones. lol  Thanks u for the welcome  Kris. :-)

Right now I am reading a pretty good book by -I hope it's okay to say a little about a book, I don't want to spoil the book for anyone-Greg Iles.  He is very good at describing things and making you feel your right there.  Which is good because I don't always get that feeling when reading a book.

There are 707 pages in the book so it's one of the longer books and that's either good or bad I guess.  Good, if the suspense is drawn out in a way that you are clueless and entertained until the end, bad, if you see it coming three hundred pages back, and they're still trying to drag the story out. lol

I've read two other books by him and so far they'e all been good.

It's set in Miss. and the main character is the mayor of this town.  He's threatened (after being told by a childhood friend about illegal activities on a gaming boat, docked at the edge of town) by a guy that's running the illegal activities, to find info (his childhood friend hide from them) hidden by his friend, or he, his family, and his ex-girlfriend will be killed.

Right now he's up in a hot air balloon and someone is shooting at him -and a man trying to build a new manufacturing plant- and the balloon is speeding towards the ground.

Of course with an eight year old, nowdays, I have to read in spurts and starts, so many times it's getting good right when I have to quit, but I'm hoping it will continue to stay good.

I also like books with strong female characters (as too many times it seems female characters are made to look weak) such as books by Patricia Cornwell, the Kay Scarpetta novels, or books by Kathy Reichs, her charcter that's been made into the t.v. series "Bones."

I love that show.  I also want to see the movie based on the book written by an author called "The Lovely Bones."

Other authors I like include, Robert B. Parker.  I love his Jesse Stone character and Sunny Randall.

Sorry to rattle on, got caught up in my favorite subject. lol

Vickie, have you read anything by Clive Cussler?  I haven't yet but I thought maybe you have.

Hello Kris, and Allison,

I hope it's okay to answer both posts at one time, I don't want to take up too much room posting.

Jenny Crusie sounds cool.  Does she write suspence, romance, action?  Is it maybe a combintion of two things?  I have a bad habit of going to the same section because I can't remember authors names a lot.lol  I hate that, because there are a lot of good authors out there. And sometimes by the time a new book comes out I've forgotten their names.

Hey Kris, Clive Cussler?  Hmmm his name sounds familiar but I can't place him at the moment.  Is he the author that read so much about the military, subs, etc. that he sounds like he's been in the military that type of thing, even though he hasn't?  What are the name of a couple of his books?

Do you both have books that you love so much, you've kept them and read them again and again? I bet my mom has over 400 hundred books scattered throughout the house.  My dad has many downstairs too.

My mom lost her eyesight a couple of years ago or more now but daddy reads to her every day now and they share their love for books that way.  I think they're reading David Baldacci right now, I think that's how you spell his name.

I also (mind gone yesterday) love Jonathan Kellerman and Faye, and James Patterson.

Who are some of you all's most favorite, all time authors?

Vickie
