CHORES AND CONSISTENCY

I'm a single mom of 2 pre- teens, ages 11 and 12, and believe in the fact that it takes a village to raise children. Yet working outside of the home makes it a little challenging when dealing with chores and consistency. Before owning my own business and having inconsistent hours I did have a schedule, chore chart, system, etc in place. However, now that I am not home delegating them through each task, my coming home in the evening consist of disciplining instead of leaving the stress outside and embracing the main reasons I work so hard to begin with. Do you have any tips, advice, pointers, or systems that you have used and proven, that can benefit my situation. Thank You for your input.

well, sorry to say- I don't have much advice for you.....my kids are 6 and 4- so I'm not there yet.....although I'm sure it will feel like a blink of an eye when I do get there! Only thing that popped in my head was something I heard of that others have tried- and I keep meaning to goolgle and see what it is all about one of these days.  I think someone in this group may have mentioned it in an earlier post. Anyway, it's called Fly Lady or flylady.com or something.  Since your kids are bigger- maybe it could be something you do together?

Anyone here try this method of housekeeping? any input on it?

ok, I just googled it and the webite is flylady.net.   There is box that says "don't get overwhelmed by all the info on this website- click here to get started".   I have some work reports to do- and my great hubby is coming home any minute after a Target run with the kids- so of course I am bookmarking the flylady page and will look at it later tonight (like at 1am or something I'm sure lol!).......but I'm excited to see what it has to say!  I do believe that when I feel better about my house, my attitude is better, and my family life is smoother- so in certain ways it is important- it's just not the end all be all.  JRiley- if you check it out let me know what you think!

A few years ago I began "FLYing" with Flylady.  It was probably the best time of my life with less chaos and more time for fun.  Why I'm being so defiant and not starting again, I don't know.  I joined this group looking for other ideas and I guess God is confirming that I need to begin FLYing again.  I'm going to go get started now.

I hope it helps the rest of you, too.  It's all about baby steps and not trying to be perfect.  Hmmmmm, I'm writing and saying to myself, "Hello!  what r u waiting for!"  Did any of you start and has it helped in the last month?
