preemie babies
Just joined this group. Anyone have a preemie? Would like to share your experience and difficulties you may be having. Wondering how you dealt with the whole experience in the hospital.

Hi Tiffany,
I have an 11 month old son that was 1 month early. 8 days in the ICN. I'd be happy to discuss anything with you. Hang in there. It is a very difficult time, but they get through it. email me at cmcdonald47@tampabay.rr.com.

Hi,

My son was born at 35 weeks at 4lbs. 7ounces. He did well after an hour of shaky blood sugar levels after birth, but didn't have to go to NICU and came home withe me. At home, it was more difficult to teach him to breastfeed because he would fall asleep so quickly and get tired from the sucking. The firstcouple of months were very rough. I was always afraid he would get sick more easily, etc. I did alot of "kangaroo care" with him to help him grow. Have you heard of that? Some hospitals allow it in the NICU.
At four months old, my doctor recommended him for Early Intervention services because he was a preemie, but he was evaluated to be normal. He's just passed his six month check up with flying colors. I just started getting the Preemie magazine as a free subscription. Let me know if you would like the link to it.

Best of luck.

Hi. I had my baby via emergency CSection due to preeclampsia at 36 weeks. She was HUGE 7lbs 1oz, but still wasn't ready to be born. She had respiratory distress and was on a CPAP for 3 days then oxygen for several more. We finally got to take her home after 14 days. That was sooo long I can't imagine what parents go through when their little ones have to stay longer. She is now 4 months old. She is really healthy and growing well. She is a little slow on development, but nothing that we or the ped is concerned about. She seems to develop at her adjusted age. Let me know if you'd like to talk....mylissab@hotmail.com
