Fussy Baby

Hello:

(My first time being in an online group....)  I have a 5 1/2 month old baby boy.  I am really having a hard time getting him to play on his own; he cries if he is not being entertained or held.  Do you have any suggestions.  I feel like he is bored-he doesnt like his jumparoo yet and is growing old of the swing, floor mat, etc....I have just started to let him cry because I just can't hold him all day.  Help!

Hang in there, my daughter is extremely high maintenance!  She hates EVERYTHING except being held.  She is 6months old now and is beginning to be a little independant.

Oh this brings back memories. I hate to tell you this but you might just have to tuff it out a little longer. My daughter went through this, I felt like I was holding her the whole day every day. I think they are just frustrated with their bodies by this point. In the next couple months he will be able to hold himself up better and begin to crawl then it will get better. I think I went for a bunch of walks at this time (outside, in the mall etc...). I know it feels like it will always be this way but it won't. I'm totally for letting them cry a little but I now it's exhausting. He's just at the brink of doing a whole bunch of new stuff it won't be long.

Okay, well at least I know that it will get better and there isn't really anything that I am doing, at this point, to encourage his fussing behavior.  Thanks for the advice; I am really looking forward to the next few months!
