Another great place to go if you need to check the order of books in a series is fantasticfiction.co.uk.  You can search by author or by book title.  It is a really great website.

I am just about finished with Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll.  I have to admit that I am liking Through the Looking Glass better than Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.  Has anyone else read these?

posted by Kris on 01/04/2010 01:32 PM

Have you ever done a background on Lewis Carol?Hes not a very good role model for children. In criminology class our teacher brought w him to us a copy of the movie of Alice in Wonderland. We had just got done w learning about pedofiles and hebofiles and he asked us to watch the movie.I got up and walked out.It made me sick to my stomach to watch it.

I have never liked the movie.  I tried to watch it last night actually and I couldn't get through it.  I have never done any background research on him so thanks for the info. The books were very strange to say the least.

Now I am reading Sea Glass by Maria V. Snyder.  It is the second in the Glass trilogy.  I think I will like this book a lot better than Alice.  I would definitely reccommend the first book, Storm Glass.  You have to read that one before you try to read Sea Glass or you will be lost.  It would also be a good idea to read the Study trilogy but not necessary.

Sorry, I guess I got a little click happy with that last post. Embarassed  Anyway, I finished reading Sea Glass and I really enjoyed it.  I almost didn't want to start it because the third book isn't coming out until fall 2011 but the author ended the book in such a way that you won't be agonizing to find out what happens next.

Now I am reading Troy by Adele Geras.  I am enjoying it but I think it is a little mature for the age range it is written for.  It is for young adults so maybe I am just being and old fogey but there are quite a few sexual references.  Definitely a good historical read for adults.

so i finally finsihed the born in trilogy. got my moning books in this week. thanks to ebay got the rest of he rhighlander series except to tame a highland warrior for cheap. read promise me forever by debbie macomber yesterday. 250 pages in 4 1/2 hours.trying to decide what to read today anyone read anything by steff ann holm?

posted by allison on 01/15/2010 11:56 AM

Ok, I spoke too soon.  I had to give up on Troy which I don't really do often but it kind of plodded along and didn't really do much to keep me interested.

I am almost finished with Born of Night.  I wasn't going to read it at all because I don't really get in to romances but the plot summary sounded interesting so I gave it a try.  I'm liking it quite a bit.  I'll wait to discuss it until we get to the end of the month.

Andi and whoever else has read the Highlander series by Karen Marie Moning. You didnt tell us that it was setting us up for the FaeFever series.I just got thru reading The Immortal Highlander and The Spell of the Highlander.I have to say I loved everyone of them.I am going to now have to reorder the Fae Series and see who I know by name in them. The Darroc.Bishop.Who the 2 chosen of the 5 is.Now that gives a whole new meaning to who the owner of the book shop is and how his family was killed.Who the woman was in the mirror he was carrying out that night.

I finished Born of Night last night.  I think I will read the next in the series.  I put it on my paperbackswap wish list and they say it will be at least 7 weeks until I get it.  Luckily I have plenty to fill my time.

Now I am reading Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw.  I haven't read a play in a long time so I need to get used to reading a little slower.  Anybody read anything by Shaw?

so the time travellers movie is coming out soon . anyone see it in theaters?

I finished Pygmalion and I loved it. I picked up two more plays by Shaw at my local bookstore's going out of business sale so I will have to see if I like any of his other stuff. Now I am reading The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I am a little over halfway through and I am really enjoying it. It is kind of disturbing but I am hoping for a good ending. Here is the synopsis: a not-too-distant future, the United States of America has collapsed, weakened by drought, fire, famine, and war, to be replaced by Panem, a country divided into the Capitol and 12 districts. Each year, two young representatives from each district are selected by lottery to participate in The Hunger Games. Part entertainment, part brutal intimidation of the subjugated districts, the televised games are broadcasted throughout Panem as the 24 participants are forced to eliminate their competitors, literally, with all citizens required to watch. When 16-year-old Katniss's young sister, Prim, is selected as the mining district's female representative, Katniss volunteers to take her place. She and her male counterpart, Peeta, the son of the town baker who seems to have all the fighting skills of a lump of bread dough, will be pitted against bigger, stronger representatives who have trained for this their whole lives. CollinsĘs characters are completely realistic and sympathetic as they form alliances and friendships in the face of overwhelming odds; the plot is tense, dramatic, and engrossing.

I finished Hunger Games and it was good but there's something about it that I didn't like.  I am having trouble finding another book I want to read.  I am kind of in a funk and nothing sounds good right now so I am just re-reading parts of Twilight until I decide on a new book.  I figured something easy and fun would clear my mind.

Kris, I agree the second book in the Percy Jackson/Olympian series is better than the first. Im halfway through the third book now. It's good. So far the second is still my favorite. I can't wait to see the movie next month. I watched a trailer of it at the theater a month back and that's what got me reading the series.

o yea we saw the previews i cant wait to see it!

posted by Lexi on 01/26/2010 11:17 AM

The previews do look good.  I wonder if they are going to stick to just the first book or bring in things from the other books as well...

I am now reading Pride and Prejudice for the second time.  I haven't read it in years so I thought I would try it again.
