Kelly's update
Hi Everyone! I'm your group space-cadet and am having a hard time getting things done these days - so I haven't been posting like I want to.

I broke my plateau, (yeah!) and am down to 159 lbs. I just have the feeling it's going to be slow going on my weight loss from here on out.

But you know what? If I don't meet my original goal of 115 by June 25, 2008, I can still keep losing weight until I do get there - and I plan to!

Still just reducing calories, still haven't made myself get on the treadmill. How can I have such great willpower in one dept. and not in another?

Kelly first off let me congratulste you on your breaking plateau I am sure that was a good thing for you. I have been quite the slacker these past couple of weeks and I can't seem to get out of the funk either however, you may be doing so great in your calorie counting that your body might feel well I am losing weight with just doing this so why stress myself over excercise. Remember you don't have to do anything extravagant. Maybe after supper take a walk with the family everynight or just go for one by yourself I know how teenagers are and they don't want to be bothered with things like this all the time. I also think at the rate your going you are losing weight perfectly you are about to be catching up to me. =) I am still at 137 and I would love to lose 10 more pounds, but I have just been so lazy with workingout and running, but I know that is the only way I am going to do it. I am hoping that by next summer I might be able to wear a bikkinni like my girlfriend with her three year old. Keep us posted and don't be so hard on yourself. Don't look at walking as an excercise, but a way to appreciate the beautiful things in life such as the outdoors.(Like me I love the smell of rain) Keep it up.

Thanks Naomi! Those are wonderful words of encouragement!

I don't care if I can ever wear a bikini again, but I do want to feel like I'm not walking around with one of those inflatable pool tubes around my hips! Even having lost 21 lbs. I still don't gauge where me big butt/hips are very well sometimes. Running into doorframes is bad enough, but I've been known to knock over medium sized children! Really bad - because I used to work in child care with kids infant - 5th grade! LOL

Kelly I am sure that you are not as monsterous as you say, I mean what height are you at? From your pictures you look like an average woman as I hope I look as well. Please don't take me saying average as being plain jane or anything. Our bodies are our masterpieces we make them what they are. I am only 5'0 and I weigh 137, and some times I get pretty cocky and think I am one sexy lady. hahaha. I like being a little thicker with some meat on my bones and my husband he likes it too. We will get where we want to be sooner or later, just dont forget to enjoy life we only get one chance. Talk to you later.

I'm 5'1" and 159 lbs. And I've always been hippy - so naturally that's the place I'm the biggest. I really do measure bigger than, say my BFF who is 5'3" and almost 200 lbs. because so much of my weight is fat, not muscle. Muscle weighs more, you know!

But I have reduced my body fat percentage from 43% to 39%, so that is an indicator that I'm on the right track.

Last fall I was walking 4.5 miles per day, then car trouble, couldn't go to the walking trail, our road's too dangerous, so I got out of the habit. However, my friend and I did start up again yesterday. We only did a mile - but we did it! Today I did a mile and a half.

I encourage walking because if you walk 30 minutes a day and never lose a pound, you are still making your heart healthier.

I live in a tiny rural Oklahoma community - but we have a walking trail made out of an old railroad bed that goes by the lake - very pretty. And the Event Center (where the high school plays basketball and stuff) is open every day for those who wank to walk, jog, or run.

Not many of us can afford a treadmill at home (& the one I have is non-motorized and hard to use), but Leslie Sansone has several DVDs for walking in your living room for 30 minutes or an hour.

I'm like you with the bladder thing. I always make sure I gone to the bathroom before I start out because even if a rabbit just startles me I'm liable to spring a leak! LOL

As for losing weight, I suggest going to a site like sparkpeople.com (which is totally free) and finding out what your daily calorie range should be for losing weight. The information I got there helped me a lot. Drinking water is key - I have a 24 oz bottle that I fill 4-5 times a day, sometimes more. And exercise won't hurt and it just might help!

Hi! New here. Mind if I follow along? I started Weight Watchers on May 8, 2007 and so far have lost 21.8 pounds (and yes, I count that .8). I was just doing the diet part (which is very easy and I am not at all deprived etc.) and the last month I started exercising. I am now up to working out 5x a week at our Rec Center. The kids go into the Tot Watch and love it...and mommy goes and makes a fool of herself on the machines and gets all sweaty. Oh well. Onwards and upwards.

Oh...and since all of you have been so forward...
I am 5'11" and started at 240.8 pounds. I am now about 218. Goal weight is 175 per my doctor, 165 per me.

Ariel it sounds like you are right on track, you sound very motivated and determined to get to a healthy weight for yourself and your family. I am glad that you were able to lose those 21.8 pounds (ever amount counts) and I am sure you are losing more as the excercise is kicking in. What kind of excercises are you doing at the gym? Keep up the good work

My torture devices of choice.....the eliptical machine, the treadmill and the recumbent (Sp?) bike.

Our Rec also has complimentary personal trainers that are very nice and not intimidating. They have shown me how to use equipment and what to do about things like my target heart rate and pacing my exercise. All very usefull.

I used to be thin. I used to enjoy exercise and eat normal meals. I am slowly getting back to the me before kids, the me before sick parent.....Me.
