1 yr old diet
My daughter will be 1 next month and we have been transitioning her to more table foods and less baby foods. My mind lacks a lot of creativity and I'm having some trouble thinking of ways to get all the nutrients she needs into her daily diet. She loves cut up fruit, but is not so keen on the veggies. She loves cut up chicken and cheese too. I can't come up with good ideas for lunch and/or what to send with her to the sitters. She usually likes to eat what we have for dinner but I'm just not sure what to feed her for lunches that remain healthy. What do most moms feed their 1y/o? Anyone have suggestions?

It's so hard to squeeze in the nutrients. It's best to be sneaky about it I think. I put frozen chopped spinach (thawed of course) in with mac-n-cheese, or broccoli bits in the spaghetti sauce. My daughter's new surprising favorite is spinach salad! I buy a bag of the stuff cut it  into bite sized pieces, mix in some chopped strawberries and a dollop of raspberry vinigrete, she goes to town on this. Beans and cheese are sometimes a favorite. If you put cheese on it, she'll eat it (much like her mother). Good luck!

Awesome idea with the spinach salad and strawberries Suzanne! I am giving that one a try for sure!

Does she eat the lettuce ok? I haven't given my daughter any lettuce yet because I didn't think she'd be able to really chew and swallow it yet. Also do you usually feed her or use it more like finger food?

I would cut up the lettuce pretty small. My daughter is 17 months and still has only 8 teeth and she does fine with it. I use it more like finger food. I just plop a little pile in front of her and give her more as she works her way through it. Start out small and see how she does.
