IUD anyone?
Has anyone on here ever or have now and IUD? I had one put in 7 weeks after my daughter was born and since then i've pretty much been spotting on and off. I got my first period about 3 weeks after the IUD now it's pretty much a constant drizzle, but it's brown? I don't have health covereage right now so i don't have a dr i can call and ask. Anybody have any clues as to if this is normal or do i need to seek medical attention immediatly?

I had the IUD put in ( Mirena ) and I have daily spotting. I went for my check up 2 weeks ago and my doctor said it was normal. But I really hate that I have to wear a mini pad everyday! She said spotting was normal. Besides I think your body is still trying to get over the pregnancy and having the IUD put in, it has hormones and will change your cycle. Did you have a normal period? I havent had my period yet.

My period was normal, a little longer than it used to be, but i guess thats to be expected. I hate this spotting, it puts a huge damper on intimacy.

i have the IUD. i'm reasonably happy with it. i don't spot daily, but my periods are more lengthy than before, which i don't like. i use to go maybe 3 or 4 days and very light. now it's almost a week or two and heavier. but it beats having to use a daily birth control. once in a while i have some pains down there. i have noticed that my blood is a bit darker, but not brown. amanda, where do you live? here in the bay area we have planned parenthood for those without insurance. there also should be a county nurse line/advice line. }kat{

i have had mine since march. You will bleed alot for first 3months i did it has slowed down alot since then.

I had mine put in about 8 weeks after my son was born and that was almost 2 years ago now. I had the hormone-based IUD so eventually you stop getting a period. I did spot almost daily for the first few months, then it slowed down to a few times every few weeks then to just once a month when my normal period would be. Now it's on a rare ocassion right around period time. Even though you don't have health coverage, your OB-GYN that put it in should be able to answer a question to reassure you that it is normal.

The OB-GYN that put the IUD in was military and we no longer have tri-care coverage so the dr.s won't even call me back.

it sounds normal what is going on with you. but that is wrong that they wont call you back i lost my ins after i got mine and dr said i could call any time if i had questions about it.

Well thats the military for you tho. Once your out they don't give a shit about you anymore. Kindof sucks, especially with a three month old. And we're not eligible for state aid because we own too many things. And even if we sold them we still wouldn't qualify becusae we sold our stuff so they figure we'd have the money for medical bills. I hate Illinois!!!

i'm from il and it better then OK let me tell you we can get anything.. And we dont own anything and we arent even married!! and min wage here is 5.15!!! It will get better for you. what part of IL you from ?

I wouldnt worrie about it. I worked in a office where we gave IUD's daily. Its normal to spot almost constantly for 1 week to 6 months after getting the IUD. and the brown blood is just dried up old blood. How long ago did you have your baby?

I'm married, we own a house, a santa fe, two trucks, a street bike and a dirt bike. But all that was bought while we were military. Now the civilian world is kicking our asses financially and we can't get any state aid. And neither of us really has any college to speak of so no one will give us decent paying jobs, it's sucks i hate it down here. I want to move back home where things are normal

Ok, now I am freaked out....I am supposed to get my IUD in 2 weeks, but after reading everything, I'm not so sure I want to anymore! I am still breastfeeding by pumping and so have not had my period even come back yet......will this make me have one again? Has anyone gotten the Mirena while still nursing and if so, did it have the same spotting effects?
