WORKOUTS??

Hi Everyone,

I was so happy with all the advice and kindness from my last posting, I have another topic for advice.  I'm in serious need of a good workout to help get off some of the baby weight!  Its been 5 weeks, I did have a C-Section so I know I have to start off slow.  I've been okayed to walk so far, so we do a mile a day.  Unfortunately I live in the Midwest and the weather will not be favorable for too much longer.  So I'm wondering if anyone has any good tips for workouts that can be done inside and with the baby around! :)  Any suggestions, tips, stories of success are welcome!

Thanks in Advance!! :)

Hi Dana. I purchased a postpartum yoga DVD. There are so many out there and a lot of them include babies into their exercises. Just search on-line. Unforutnately I myself never got to doing it since I started working and cannot find time to exercise :-( In the meantime, while weather permits, walking is the best. I walked a lot when I was at home with baby and it did help with energy and some baby weight loss. Yoga, on the other hand, in my opinion is the best thing to do postpartum because it addresses not only physical, but emotional part of you and baby as well. It helps to relax, relieve stress and focus, which God only knows all of us new moms need desparately, even more so than getting into physical shape.

Hope this helps.

Keep in touch and good luck.

Oh I liked step arobics, you can buy the step and a video at walmart, but I can't remember how much$ is was.  I love it, you start out light and it gets more difficult and you can add hand weights and or ankle weights.  You just put baby in the bouncer or swing or somewhere where you can see her and you won't step on her and have at it.  Or even if you don't do the video and just step up and down up and down up and down, you'll get your heart rate up and burn some cals.

You should really try Stroller Strides (www.strollerstrides.com)!! I found out about it when my son was about three months old. I was just walking the mall when the instructor approached me with a brochure. It was the perfect fit for me. Three mornings a week we met up at the local mall with a GREAT instructor. The instructor would definitely push us more than any video or just walking would have ever done. I lost twenty lbs. in like a month. I also met some really great moms in the group who lived close by to me. We had moms night outs and would often get coffee after our workouts. My abs have never looked so good. GOOD LUCK!!

Hi Dana!

I also recommend a support system - I am a part of StrollerFit and currently am involved in the South Bend, Indiana network. We meet 4-5 times weekly and I absolutely LOVE it! I have lost inches and feel great about teaching my child the nursery rhymes, numbers, the alphabet, etc. It is a great support system of moms and kids! Good luck in your quest! I hope you find something that works for you, and congrats on your new baby!
