Weird eating habits?
My 3 months old has been acting kindof odd when it comes time to eating. When she starts her bottle she will take three or four swallows and then pull away. Then she gets mad when i don't put the bottle back in her mouth right away. She'll do this about 5 times then settle down and finish her bottle. And then sometimes while she's in the middle of it she'll grab onto my finger and push the bottle away but then get mad at me becuase she thinks i took her food away. I don't know whats going on with her, any advice?

Hello, maybe she is teething, when my duaghter was that age, she didn't want anything in her mouth at certain times. Maybe just let her take a few swallows and then try again in a few minutes, if she is hungry she will eat!

My son did a similar thing too. It was so annoying. It was a phase which did go away but now he is doing it again.

The only thing I can think of is maybe a change of his nipple or practicing to learn how to grasp his bottle to feed himself. I use to give him a bottle using a latex nipple but because he was so colic, I changed to Dr. Brown bottle, which had a silicon nipple. It took him about 4 days to finally get used to it. In addition, he is trying to hold his own bottle. Sometimes he success but other times he end up missing it and grabs my hand. It is like a tugging war between us.

I'm thinking reflux. Does she arch her back while she is eating? Try holding her in a sort of upright position. Maybe the nipple flow is too fast. Holding her upright will help with that too.

My son did that for a while as well. The doctor said it could be teething, even though you won't see them , the teeth, for a while, she said it has something to do with the pressure they feel.

Or an ear infection has she had a runny nose or anything??That's kinda young for an ear infection already though.

My son has done this since he was 4 weeks old and continues to do this. There are several reasons he does this...

He has acid reflux and before he started taking Zantac, it burned to eat but he's hungry so he tries again and again.

He can't breathe or has a stuffy nose, so he pulls the nipple out to take a breath but wants it back immediately, so I keep the nipple touching his lower lip so he knows it's there and doesn't get mad and think I took away his food. That way, he can just lean forward and control his own eating.

The nipple flow may be too fast for him and overwhelms him and makes him choke a little. This tends to happen when the nipple gets a little old and worn out, so now I know it's time to replace it when he starts doing that again.

It's good to know this is more common than not baby behavior! For a while, I just thought my son was weird. :)
