I have a 4 1/2 month old and was wondering the same thing.  I think its cute to get them all dressed up, but whats not cute is when the parents are collecting candy when they take their baby trick or treating.

My daughter was 7 months old on her first halloween and I just dressed her up and took pictures, but I didn't take her out trick or treating..for one thing, it was too cold (40 degrees out), plus it seemed a little tacky to me to trick or treat and say it was for the baby when really it would be for us parents because the baby wasn't even old enough to enjoy the candy or the occasion. She got to go trick or treating the next year and she loved it :)

My daughter was four months old at Halloween time last year.  I dressed her up as a sweet pea and I took her trick or treating.  I only took her to two of my neighbors who wanted to see her in her costume.  Then we handed out candy to the older kids.  We had fun.  I got some cute photos of her in her costume.

My twin boys are 2 1/2 and I won't be taking them Trick or Treating.  They are too young for candy.  Maybe I'll take them next year.

I dressed my then 4 month old up as a chili pepper and as a penguin....soooo cute.  I didn't take him trick or treating, but my husband and I took him to my husband's job (he was a teacher) and they had a fall/halloween fair.  His colleagues wanted to meet Matthew...that was fun.  This year he's going to be a monkey, not sure yet what to do.  I have joined a stay at home moms network online and I think that they r going to have something for the kids, but otherwise I have heard that some of the malls do a halloween parade for the kids.  I got his costume at The Children's Place this year and last year I ordered the chili pepper from Costume Express I think.  Good Luck!
