not sleeping all night

My baby is almost nine months and has yet to sleep a 12 hour night. Bedtime is 9pm and she always wakes up at 5 or 6am. HELP, how do I get her to stay asleep without needing a bottle???

My daughter is almost a year old--she hasn't slept a 12-hour night since she was a newborn. She goes to sleep between 8:30 and 9:00 and wakes up anywhere between 6:00 and 7:00. I don't think that's unusual that your daughter is waking up when she is. It may just be her biological sleep schedule that's getting her up at 5 or 6 every morning. You could try putting cereal in her bedtime bottle and see if that keeps her asleep longer. Good luck!:-)

Hi Michelle. I agree with Amy. In fact my daughter who just turned 10 months has never slept 12 or even 11-hout nights. She actully used to go to sleep around 11 or even 11:30 and wake up no later than 7. Recently we have started putting her down earlier, so she falls asleep between 9 and 10 and wakes up by 7 and sometimes earlier. She does take naps during the day that total up to 2.5-3 hours. Does your daughter take naps? Maybe if her naps are reduced, she will sleep longer at night? I am not sure. I actually have to get mine up by 7 am since I breastfeed before going to work, but on weekends she does not sleep much longer, maybe until 7:30 or rarely 8. Do not worry. Nothing wrong with her. If you want to make her sleep until later in the morning, try putting her down a bit later. As long as total hours of sleep a day are what they are supposed to add up to (I think it is 13 or 14). Good luck.
