Hard naps, Hard bedtimes

Hi everyone! Ok, so here's the deal. My daughter is 21 months old. She has NEVER had trouble falling asleep or staying asleep. She was sleeping through the night at 2 months old..........until now.

I'm not sure if it's a growth spurt or what - but she does not want to take her nap durring the day. She doesn't cry or anything, she just sits in there and laughs/talks - what-have-you. Then, of course if she doesn't go down for a nap, she's usually more apt to go to bed - but if she DOES nap, she has the same issues going down for bed!

I've tried "running down" her energy at the park, soothing music, soothing sents, rocking together, calming story time - ANYTHING!! Nothing works!

Anyone have any advice or had this happen at this age?

Thanks for the help! :)

Maybe she is outgrowing her naps?  I know typically kids are a little older when they outgrow their naps, but my friend's baby started to refuse taking naps at about that age.  Or maybe she's getting more independent and wanting to fight nap/bed time.  I wish I had some good advice for you...maybe just keep trying and eventually she'll go back to her old routine.

How does she act when she doesn't get her nap? fussy or cranky?  If not then maybe Joann is right.  My son is 21months and if he doesn't get his nap in then he is so cranky and will pass out early and then get up earlier the next day SO I make him take a nap...I'll put him down at 1 and sometimes he'll fall asleep quick and sleep till 3 or other times he'll fall asleep toward 2 and wake up at 3:30 or 4....but the days he just does NOT want to nap I will leave him in his crib till 4 and if he is NOT asleep by then I go in there and rock him and he'll pass out then and I'll let him sleep for about a hr.

my son as well is very cranky without naps but my problem is with early rising so I cant offer too much advice.  I have heard and read that kids do try to outgrow their naps at this age but the strongly recommend to reinstate it until they are three since they need it.  A great book is "Healthy sleep habits, Happy child" it has been a god send for me so far.
