nursing questions

Hello all, this is my second time around with nursing but it is completely different with my daughter than it was with my son. I have some kind of embarrassing questions and I am hoping that someone has some advice.

1) I had to start pumping pretty much right away because my daughter was being supplemented with formula due to excessive weight lose after birth. The thing is that when I sit down to pump and start on one breast the other one leaks nearly the entire time I am pumping. My production is low due to having to supplement her with formula so I am actually worried about how much is leaking while I am pumping the other one. Any suggestions

2) This is the embarrassing question when my husband and are are being intimate I start to leak and I do not know what to do about this, obviously my husband enjoys how big I have become but anytime we are togeather I am worried about this leaking and get grossed out. So has this been a problem for anyone else?

To answer question 1...try using a double breast pump..it helps with the flow of milk, I breast feed my son, from the time he was born up until now..and he's 9months..my milk flow started to slow down, so I brought a double breast pump..it really helped me, plus to increase your flow, try nursing your son right from the breast it helps to increase the flow babies draw harder than the pump, which stimulates the milk ducts...to answer your second question....just breast feed your son.. Then use a breast pump to empty your self out, I found that even arousal..even stimulates our ducts which cause the milk to come in harder, this is with me, I know every woman is different, but I really think this will help you a lot, I hope I made sense

I agree about the double pump.  That way not a drop is wasted.  They even have a "hands-free" pumping bra that can help get two nozzles into place.  Also there are some things you can do to increase your supply (eat oatmeal, increase fluids, and lots of other things)

For the 2nd question, pump both sides out (or nurse) before you and the hubby get intimate.  If you still leak, try a sexy bra you can hide breast pads in.  I know men like to be real "hands-on" with them, but given the choice between that, or getting a milk-bath...  Just remind him that it won't be like this for ever.

I so agree with bethany, it is very important that we know, that our hubbys/boyfriends know that our body's are changing, and the reasons why they do, and to let them know that it won't be like this forever, I would not have thought of that bethany, thank you, and I hope we where able to help you

Thank you so much for the advice, I will certainly try both suggestions.
